Kumho continues to reap the benefit of its return to the truck tyre market and is achieving rapidly growing sales courtesy of some very well accepted new products.
The extra-load, Euro 6 compliant KRS50 regional steer pattern became available in 295/80 size last year and, according to the man spearheading the company’s CV tyre department, Steve Miller, it is not only set to become the number one option in the sector within which Kumho operates, but is already providing a number of premium equivalents with a degree of healthy competition. The eagerly-awaited 315/70 version is coming on stream as we write, and there is every reason to believe that will prove just as popular.
Miller is equally enthusiastic about KRS50’s regional drive axle partner, KRD50, which has proved to be a significant improvement over the tried and tested KRD02 pattern it replaced. On average, customers are experiencing a 10-15 percent increase in mileage and improved wear performance characteristics.
Additional extra-load offerings
Recognising the increasing level of demand for extra-load tyres, Kumho will be producing such versions of both its KLS03 and KXS10 steer patterns in the near future. The KLS03 benefits from dual step groove technology and optimised weight design for fuel efficiency in long haul operations, while the KXS10 multi-performance tyre offers excellent all-season performance across a variety of operational demands with increased mileage and improved handling performance.
Commenting on the company’s overall performance in the truck sector Miller said: “The division is at a major stage in its development and I have to say I’m very pleased with the year-on-year increase in sales. The brand has been readily accepted back into the market place with products customers know they can rely upon. Our goal is clear – ie to be a leader in terms of ‘total cost of ownership’, and we are making promising strides in that direction.”
