bilstein group UK is moving to Markham Vale

Building is underway at Markham Vale for Ferdinand Bilstein UK’s new state of the art distribution centre.

Part of the Derbyshire County Council’s regeneration project, Ferdinand Bilstein UK’s new purpose-built centre is 212,771 sq ft, offering a wealth of new opportunities in jobs and revenue for the local area. It is the first to be built on the north section of the development and could create up to 400 exciting new jobs.

Established in Germany in 1844, the bilstein group, with its prestigious brands febi, SWAG and Blue Print, is an automotive component specialist which provides the aftermarket with high quality replacement parts. The bilstein group operates worldwide; manufacturing, marketing and distributing a variety of different car parts to fit popular vehicle makes and models including Volkswagen, BMW and Land Rover.

The new distribution centre, for UK based operations, is situated just off junction 29A of the M1 and will offer fantastic transport links to the main motorways. This will help to ensure the company can continue to improve its distribution capabilities and provide better access its customers across the UK.

Plus, with all distribution moving to take place on one site, instead of split across the two sites in Kent and Pontefract, the UK operations will become further integrated. This will create better support and customer service, as well as providing a singular base in the UK for the three prestigious brands: febi, SWAG and Blue Print.

Initial building was completed in January, with the technological developments and state of the art Witron system being installed over the first few months of 2017.

Paul Dodgson, Operations Director at Ferdinand Bilstein UK said: “We are excited about being part of this high profile development. Initial building has finished at the Markham Vale site and we look forward to seeing things progress.

Markham Vale offers excellent transport links for our distribution requirements, and close proximity to some of our biggest customers. The new relocation will allow us to expand our company further, offering new opportunities on a local and national scale.”

Leader of Derbyshire County Council and Cabinet Member for Strategic Policy, Economic Development and Budget Councillor Anne Western said: “We’re delighted to see that work has started on Ferdinand Bilstein UK’s new distribution centre at Markham Vale, bringing up to 400 more new jobs to the area.
Ferdinand Bilstein UK’s new distribution centre is being built by the county council’s private sector property partner, Henry Boot Developments.
