Autoinform Live is heading for Scotland
The training weekend – organised by ADS and supported by the Original Equipment Suppliers Aftermarket Association (OESAA), which promotes the benefits of fitting original equipment (OE) parts – will be held at the GTG Edinburgh on March 18 & 19.
Following the success of previous Autoinform Live weekends held in Wolverhampton, it will once again feature technical presentations by some of the automotive industry’s leading companies and is expected to attract professional mechanics from across the UK and Ireland.
One of the suppliers attending the event is OESSA member Schaeffler (UK) Ltd. Malcolm Short, Technical Services Manager for Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket in the UK, said: “We appear to have found the magic formula to maximise the benefits to the delegates. Everybody gets 12 hours of training on eight different subjects that they can select in advance.
“Everybody that attends says that it is brilliant value for money and our core group of Wolverhampton regulars are amazed at how we keep on improving the format. We have carefully selected a new venue in Scotland because it has great transport links, is very close to the airport and is simply a fantastic training facility.”
This time round visitors can expect to gain an insight into Schaeffler’s thermal management products, the E-ARC stabiliser, E-mobility and much more. The Schaeffler REPXPERT team will be on hand to deal with any queries and to give garage owners a chance to sign up to the online garage portal, REPXPERT, which offers members free access to vehicle manufacturer (VM) fitting information and everything they need to know about LuK clutches, INA tensioners and FAG wheel bearings.
Similar to the last event in November 2016, visitors will be split into three groups to provide the highest quality training to an optimum number of people. Group 1 will benefit from INA/FAG training courtesy of Tim Adams, a veteran belt drive and wheel bearing system specialist with an in-depth knowledge (and practical experience!) of the common problems in process and understanding, who will explain how to avoid expensive failures and maximise customer satisfaction.
While groups 2 and 3 will benefit from a course about Future Mobility, including thermal management and the E-ARC stabiliser, and delegates will take a detailed look at vehicles that will be driving into workshops in the future.
This includes the latest advances in water pump technology – the Thermal Management Module, as well as details of the Electromechanical Active Roll Control System being increasingly fitted to modern cars. Throughout the weekend visitors will have access to an open workshop focusing around the award-winning INA Gearbox, as well as three live REPXPERT pods.
Last year’s event, which attracted 450 delegates, received a lot of positive comments from the delegates who praised the organisers and the content of the training weekend.
Andrew Fowkes, of Tony Fowkes Automobiles, London, said: “Just to say thanks to all the team for the weekend. We honestly thought it was the best one yet. We were buzzing the whole way home.
“Our only regret is just doing the one day and not the whole weekend– we shall certainly do the whole weekend next year.”
Nigel Yardley, of Yardley’s Garage, added: “Thank you for a fantastic weekend, I want you to know how much the hard work of you and your team is appreciated.
“I particularly enjoyed the management courses, truly an inspiration. If anything can we have more of these, so I can include non-workshop staff next year.”
