NTN-SNR has used the Motorshow in Bologna, Italy to showcase its TechScaN’R, an innovative application for smartphones and tablets that enables mechanics and technicians to access technical information on their SmartPhone.
TechScaN’R, available on AppleStore and Google Play, accesses information by recognizing the NTN-SNR part number on the box label, without any other additions, links or markers.
The user simply scans the part number and receives all the NTN-SNR technical information. No more need for a QR code, and no need to run searches on an overloaded web site.
45 types of different information are currently available:
· Conventional data in values: dimension, weight, number of components for kits, etc.
· Textual data: presence of screws, type of roller, type of product.
· High-definition images.
· Recommendations on mounting and add-on products, mating parts, their status (“replaced” or “replacing”), etc.
· PDF files linked to these part numbers, many TechInfo sheets and other technical diagrams.
TechScaN’R offers another significant innovation: the option of viewing parts in augmented reality. For parts that can only be identified by viewing them from several angles, this technology lets the user “play around” with the image of the part “floating” over its box, in the air (N’R).
TechScaN’R currently covers nearly 5,000 part numbers, virtually the entire NTN-SNR range. It is available in 9 languages, with automatic recognition of the user’s language. It offers an offline mode with access to book-mark favourites when no network is available, and sends notifications if a more recent version of the application is available and/or if favourites need to be updated.
