Truck tyre exhibitors at the 2016 CV Show

A number of truck tyre manufacturers are exhibiting at the Commercial Vehicle Show, at the NEC in Birmingham, April 26-28.

The Hankook stand this year goes to the latest addition to its SmartfFlex range, an AH35 in the size 215/75R17.5. This tyre range is said to be suitable in particular for medium-to-long-haul operations, boasting “a wide tread and three-dimensional sipes for prolonged tread life and optimum traction.”

See how the the latest low-rolling-resistance truck tyres to cut fuel bills at the Goodyear stand. The Goodyear FuelMax range has been making a name for itself lately, not least as a result of having been specified by Daimler last year for the Mercedes-Benz truck “efficiency run”.

Peter Platje, Goodyear EMEA Director OE Sales Truck Tyres, said, “The results from Efficiency Run 2015 show clearly that fleets can reduce their fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by using equipment that is available on the market today.

“Simply choosing low-rolling-resistance truck tyres can have a huge positive impact. Another example of this was demonstrated by internal tests carried out by German fleet Spedition Bartkowiak. Their results confirmed a fuel-saving potential of up to 1.6 litres per 100 kilometers per truck with FuelMax tyres.”

Bridgestone and Continental are among big tyre-manufacturing groups with new brands to display at the CV Show. Conti will have its latest Semperit and Barum tyres on show for the first time in the UK.

Arthur Gregg, Continental Tyres UK Commercial Sales and Marketing Director, said, “The CV Show is always a great opportunity to talk about our products and services to a wide and knowledgeable audience. With growth still difficult for many operators in challenging market conditions, our strategy is to provide fleets with solutions that drive efficiency and lower costs.”

An unfamiliar tyre brand name to watch out for on the Bridgestone stand is Dayton. This range of tyres is manufactured in Spain and designed to help Bridgestone compete more effectively at the budget end of the UK truck tyre market.

Greg Ward, Bridgestone UK Commercial Sales Director, said, “Dayton allows us to engage with professional hauliers and certain businesses which might not be in a position to opt for our holistic ‘Total Tyre Care’ package of premium support. The Dayton range delivers consistent quality drivers and meets fleet managers’ needs to get the job done safely and efficiently.”
