Tallaght Powder Coating Ltd attended the Classic Car Show in Dublin at the weekend and a coffee table made from engine parts, like the one displayed on Top Gear took centre stage.
The table features parts from an American V8 Ford Windsor engine with the pistons taken out and used to support the 6mm toughened glass slab.
“The engine block arrived at Tallaght Powder Coating in an absolutely disastrous state and was really only fit for the bin,” Jeff Bibby confirmed.
“After a little tender loving in the careful hands of our team it went for dipping and stripping in the chemical bath and then onwards to the sandblaster, ready to be welded and blasted clean again. Then it was time for a coat of primer followed by a powder coat chrome.”
“Finally after all the preparation it had one last coat and after a few hours of cooling down, ready for the LED’s and then it’s glass top fitted.”
It is a magnificent piece of bespoke furniture that can be displayed in the confines of your own home or in the office or showroom of any big motor dealer. We are currently taking orders for these such items and other items like piston clocks, crankshaft lamps etc. All I can say is it’s a fabulous piece of engineered creativity that fits well in any of above mentioned abodes,” Jeff concluded.
