FTA Ireland offers free advice session on employment law

Freight Transport Association Ireland is offering non-members a chance to find out more about employment law for mobile workers and its forthcoming Van Excellence programme this week.

FTAI holds its AGM on Thursday at the Carlton Hotel, Dublin Airport, and non-members are invited to attend the afternoon session.

Alastair Purdy from Purdy Fitzgerald Solicitors will update attendees on the law regarding employing mobile workers. And Mark Cartwright, FTA’s Head of Vans and LGVs, will talk about the soon-to-be-launched Van Excellence programme.

The industry-led scheme, which already operates in the UK, is designed to enhance standards of van operator compliance, celebrate those who demonstrate excellence and represent the interests of the van industry.

During the morning, members will hear about FTA Ireland’s latest policy successes and will be asked for their views for next year’s Transport Manager Seminar.  They will also be able to make contributions for inclusion in FTAI’s pre-budget submission.

Neil McDonnell, General Manager of FTA Ireland, said: “This is a great opportunity for non-members to come along and find out what we do – and also to benefit from some free employment advice.”
Anyone wishing to attend the free afternoon session should call Sarah Beveridge on  01 844 7516 or email sbeveridge@ftai.ie
