Surefreight chooses Continental Tyres for another year running
Building strong partnerships with customers is key to Continental Tyres philosophy and has been instrumental in Surefreight’s decision to continue its exclusive relationship with the tyre company for the third year running.
The Irish logistics company, currently celebrating its 25th anniversary, originally turned to Continental Tyres in an attempt to reduce its annual expenditure and, found it was it was able to achieve remarkable savings on its tyre bill thanks to Continental’s support. Following another consecutive year of quality and reliability, Surefreight has confirmed it will continue to use products exclusively from the Continental range.
Founded in 1989, Surefreight has developed a strong reputation over the years and is one of Ireland’s largest fleet operators. With 200 tractor units and over 500 trailers, the company needs to ensure it gets maximum mileage and fuel economy across its fleet. To do so it adopts the ContiLifeCycle process, which starts with ensuring the correct tyres are chosen for individual applications, based on advice from Continental’s team of experts. The tyres serviceable life is extended with regrooving and retreading, backed up by professional monitoring of the tyres performance and condition.
Surefreight director, Brian McManus said: “Since we introduced Continental’s products we have seen significant improvements, particularly on life expectancy and whole life costs. Tyre upkeep and management can be a real headache for fleet managers, particularly for a large fleet like ours, but Continental’s ContiLifeCycle programme has helped us ensure we get the most out of each and every tyre, while still maintaining safety and fuel efficiency.”
Surefreight currently uses the Continental HSR2 for its steer axles, while its trailers are fitted with the Continental HTR2. Specially designed to provide maximum grip in all conditions the HSR2 features intermediate blocks for extra traction, and chip resistant compound to maximise life expectancy. The low-weight HTR2 meanwhile is ideal for improving fuel efficiency and delivering high mileage thanks to its use of a precisely balanced compound and tyre geometry.
McManus added: “This year we are very much looking forward to trialing the latest Continental products, including its third generation tyre range. Taking good care of our tyres pays significant dividends and choosing Continental as our tyre partner has been central to this approach.”
