Scania Euro 6 test and drive

July saw the kick off for Scania’s Irish Dealers Euro 6 Test & Drive event and where better to start than at Scania’s Irish importer anddealer Westward Scania in Strokestown, Co. Roscommon.

Showcasing at the event were Westward’s own Euro 6 demo fleet, a brand new R520 V8, unique in being the only Euro 6 V8 on the truck market, the new R450 Streamline and the award winning R 410 SCR tractor unit. The new 410HP is a close relation to the renowned 12 litre 420HP, much loved by hauliers for its simplicity and fuel consumption. The 450HP is Scania’s SCR/EGR model, capable of running on up to 100 per cent Biofuel, and this engine will be supplemented with a 450HP SCR only engine for hauliers who never want the option of alternative fuels.

Euro 6 has without doubt presented challenges for hauliers and manufacturers alike, but Westward chose to specify trucks geared towards Irish market conditions, resulting in excellent feedback and fuel returns.
