Favourite LED inspection lamp gets a make over
Ring’s RIL2500 inspection lamp has long been a favourite of many mechanics up and down the country. When it was first introduced back in 2005, it was an instant hit and to date over a million units have been sold. The use of the then latest LED technology and the compact size made the lamp lightweight and something mechanics could have on their person all day.
Since then LED inspection lamps now dominate the market. LEDs consume less power, ensuring a long life output from the rechargeable battery. With no power leads, you can shine light on a problem without the worry of tripping up or standing on a trailing leads.
LEDs also run at a cool temperature, meaning there is no risk of getting a burn from handling the lamp when on.
However, LED technology has evolved and Ring have incorporated the latest COB technology (Chip on board) creating the RIL2500HP. Compared to the old RIL2500, the new unit is 3 x brighter, and provide mechanics 300 lumens of light to work with.
Understanding that working hands free is important, a magnet has also been introduced on the back of the belt clip.
A number of the features that made the original product so popular remain. The compact size and being cordless means the lamp fits perfectly in your pocket and toolbox for easy storage. The lamp is totally rechargeable and cordless for convenient use. Supplied is a main charger for charging in the workshop and a DC charger for charging within a vehicle from the DC power socket.
The lamp has also been designed for to withstand the tough working conditions found in a workshop. The polycarbonate lens is virtually unbreakable and has been independently tested to have an impact rating of IK07.
An important upgrade is the RIL2500HP now has a lithium-ion battery for faster and consistent recharging.
