Irish transport firms contribute €500,000 to local charities
Irish transport firms contributed over €500,000 to Irish to local charities in 2013, it has been revealed.
The DAA, Transdev, Veolia and Enterprise Rent-a-Car contributed over €560,000 to the community in 2013. The companies contributed over €360,000 in cash donations, €200,000 in employee fundraising and over €3,100 in, in-kind donations.
This information is being captured by Business in the Community Ireland on an online interactive map entitled the “Business Impact Map”. The four firms are amongst 49 socially minded, large Irish companies to take part in the map and have created between them over 160 individual community partnerships across Ireland during 2013.
National statistics show, that over €24 million was contributed by business to the community and voluntary sector in Ireland. €9.5million was given in cash donations, 11 million was contributed through in kind donations and €3 million was raised through employee fundraising. Employees also volunteered over 162,000 hours to local groups and projects during the year. The map and details on all the projects can be viewed at www.bitc.ie.
