Volvo launches Stretch Brake

During winter time, slippery winter roads and downhill gradients can represent a challenge for even skilled drivers as there is always the risk of the rig becoming unstable and starting to jack-knife which can be dangerous not only for the driver, but for other road users too.

Volvo Trucks has created a new braking system, known as ‘Stretch Brake’ to minimise the risk of this happening and preventing accidents brought on by hazardous winter conditions.

The ‘Stretch Brake’ automatically brakes the trailer and straightens up the rig to prevent jack-knifing and allow the driver more security and control of the vehicle.
