Manchester based Basic Welding Services (BWS) is well known throughout the UK & Ireland for selling and repairing welding equipment and offering high levels of technical training. News of the company’s prowess has now stretched as far as Jamaica…
BWS has always been at the forefront of automotive welding technology and has provided training to many repair shops down through the years.
When ATL Jamaica approached the company to improve the quality of its services and make it the leading bodyshop in Jamaica, BWS was happy to take on the challenge.
The remit was easy, ATL Jamaica wanted to be the best vehicle body repair shop on the island and provide the latest techniques and equipment to its customers. They also wanted Jaguar – Landrover approval for the new all aluminium vehicles.
Special spot welding and synergic welding equipment was required due to the mains supply voltages and these were provided by Fronius ( inverter MIG MAG Welding) and Alia (resistance spot welding).
BWS also supplied a complete new infra red paint curing system, steel and aluminium dent pulling system and Avdel SPR rivet system to enable repairing of the new jaguar XF aluminium vehicle.
BWS then followed up with an intensive training course on site covering the following subjects.
- AHSS steels
- MIG BRAZE welding theory and welding assessment.
- Resistance welding theory and practical assessment.
- Aluminium training to Jaguar / Landrover specifications.
- Dent pulling and the NEW Steels
- Bonding and Riveting.
- Machine maintenance and repairs
“The guys were really first class and eager to learn. Thats not to say they were not competent panel beaters before this, as looking at some of there existing repair work maybe some of the panel beaters in the UK would struggle to repair what was there,” a company spokesman commented.
“It was just the need to improve their skills and learn how to use the latest repair equipment as used by most UK and Ireland body repair shops on the new type vehicles.“
