Threading the way for public transport safety

Wheel security in the commercial vehicle sector, particularly the coach and bus market, is a key issue for fleet operators, with an estimated 7,500-11,000 wheel fixing defects and up to 400 wheel detachments occurring in the UK annually.

At the CV Show, Checkpoint Safety, inventor of the wheel nut indicator, will demonstrate its Checkthread product. This is a toolkit designed for use by service staff and engineers to monitor the quality of wheel studs and stud holes.

The kits are easy to use, offering a clear way of highlighting fixing problems, heightening awareness of wheel security at an operating level and allowing fleet managers to train staff in detecting problems early so that they can take remedial action.
